New races introduced for 2015!

Hey, change is a good thing! After a decade of Oldham County Grand Slam awesomeness, we are introducing some changes this year. There are two new races in the series and the Grand Slam will start later this year, running from mid-July through late September.

We will kick off the series this year with the popular YMCA Festival 5k on Friday, July 17. Race into the evening through the heart of La Grange, with Oldham County Day festivities on Main Street after the race!

The Fastline FUN-Raiser, another OCGS classic, is next up on Aug. 8. This scenic course will challenge your hill-running skills and benefits the Metro United Way in Oldham County, the American Cancer Society and the March of Dimes.

After that, we are excited to introduce two new races to our series: the Joggin’ For Frogmen 5k and the KSP Trooper Island/Sligo Baptist Church 5k.

Joggin’ For Frogmen debuted in Crestwood last year and is a perfect fit for the series. This national race series benefits the 31 Heroes project and provides resources for families of fallen military veterans.

And, wrapping up the series this year is a brand-new race, brought to us courtesy of Mark Brockman. We mention Mark because returning OCGS runners would recognize his voice from the PA at most of our other races! Mark was instrumental in the organization and execution of the previous Crestwood Baptist race, and of the entire series. We are thrilled that, in his new role at Sligo Baptist Church, he will be directing a new race benefiting the church’s missions as well at the Kentucky State Police’s Trooper Island camp. Join us at Sligo Baptist on Sept. 12 for this new event!

As always, we will be offering a special t-shirt for all participants completing all four races, as well as a custom LOUISVILLE SLUGGER bat for the overall male & female winners of the series.

Registration is coming soon — mark your calendar with our new race dates!
