The 2016 Slam is Set!

Get ready! Mark your calendar for June 4th. This year’s Grand Slam will be the best ever! The first leg will blaze a new trail, starting at the Rawlings Group in LaGrange and traveling across the new Dampier Bridge over I-71! It’s the Health/Hope/Hometown 5K on the morning of Saturday June 4th.

Register now for all four races before June 4th and you’ll save $10. For $90 you’ll receive entry into all four events, a t-shirt for every race, plus you’ll receive a long sleeved “Tech” shirt when you complete the final event on August 27. This is the best bargain in running!

All four events are chip timed and results will be posted on this site soon after the race.

The second leg of the Slam will be the Oldham County Festival 5K on the evening of July 15. This event is always fantastically presented by the Oldham County YMCA!

Fastline’s FunRaising 5K will come next on August 13 in Buckner. Fun is the key word for this great event!

We’ll finish up in horse country with the KSP/SBC Trooper Island 5K in L’Esprit on August 27 where the coveted Louisville Slugger bats will be awarded to the Grand Slam Champions!

So get going and start training! We’ll see you at the starting line on June 4th in LaGrange.

Chip timing in 2015!

All four races will be professionally chip-timed in 2015, producing accurate and fast results. We want to provide a high-quality, fun race series and this is a feature many of our participants wanted to see added.

Don’t forget we have TWO new races this year, too!

New races introduced for 2015!

Hey, change is a good thing! After a decade of Oldham County Grand Slam awesomeness, we are introducing some changes this year. There are two new races in the series and the Grand Slam will start later this year, running from mid-July through late September.

We will kick off the series this year with the popular YMCA Festival 5k on Friday, July 17. Race into the evening through the heart of La Grange, with Oldham County Day festivities on Main Street after the race!

The Fastline FUN-Raiser, another OCGS classic, is next up on Aug. 8. This scenic course will challenge your hill-running skills and benefits the Metro United Way in Oldham County, the American Cancer Society and the March of Dimes.

After that, we are excited to introduce two new races to our series: the Joggin’ For Frogmen 5k and the KSP Trooper Island/Sligo Baptist Church 5k in L’Espirit.

Joggin’ For Frogmen debuted in Crestwood last year and is a perfect fit for the series. This national race series benefits the 31 Heroes project and provides resources for families of fallen military veterans.

And, wrapping up the series this year is a brand-new race, brought to us courtesy of Mark Brockman. We mention Mark because returning OCGS runners would recognize his voice from the PA at most of our other races! Mark was instrumental in the organization and execution of the previous Crestwood Baptist race, and of the entire series. We are thrilled that, in his new role at Sligo Baptist Church, he will be directing a new race benefiting the church’s missions as well at the Kentucky State Police’s Trooper Island camp. Join us in L’Espirit on Sept. 12 for this new event!

As always, we will be offering a special t-shirt for all participants completing all four races, as well as a custom LOUISVILLE SLUGGER bat for the overall male & female winners of the series.
